PLACING ORDERS

Channels For Checking Prices & Placing Orders
  • Internet Share Trading Platform
  • limtan iPhone App
  • limtan iPad App
  • limtan Andriod App
User Guides can be found here.

Auto-Amalgamation Of Orders
To allow you to save on your brokerages, orders are auto-amalgamated (ie. orders are combined based on your average traded price). This happens for trades done on the same trading day, same stock, same action, same mode of payment (eg. OCBC shares bought over 2 trades on the same day, payment by cash).

Auto-Expiration
Unless you select a date for your orders to expire, all orders expire at 5.16pm in the same day. If you like to know how to set an expiration date for your orders, please read this article: A Good Habit: Placing Long-Dated Orders

Placing For Next Day
If you wish to place an order for the next market day, you may do so from 5.23pm onwards, after the market close.

Contra-Trading
Contra-trading is buying and selling a stock within 0-4 working days, hence making/losing the difference. This is done without the payment of the shares. If you are interested in contra-trading, it is recommended to contra good quality stocks, with funds always available to pick up the stock or pay for the contra losses should the price go down. Contra-trading can be very dangerous, but it can also reap you good profits if you have a proper money and risk management plan.

YOUR CDP ACCOUNT

Your CDP account is basically where all your shares are kept.

Selling Existing Shares In Your CDP
As long as the shares are recorded in the free balance of your CDP, you can sell your shares through any of the trading channels mentioned above.

Selling Without Shares In Your CDP (also known as Short-selling)
Short-selling involves the sale of shares without having them on hand at the time of sale. Short-selling is not encouraged, as SGX imposes hefty fees and penalties for short-selling. Do ensure that you have the shares on hand before clicking on "Sell".

Accessing Your CDP Account Online
For convenience, you may wish to apply for CDP Internet Access to enjoy the freedom of obtaining your latest shareholdings anytime you wish.

Go to SGX Website > Depository > Abt CDP Services > CDP Internet Service

CDP sends out a monthly statement if you transacted for that particular month. Otherwise, half-yearly statements are sent out to you if you have shares in your CDP account.

TRADING WITH CPF FUNDS

Checking The Amount Available For Investible Savings
Up to 35% of your investible savings* (in the CPFIS-OA) can be invested in:
  • Shares
  • Property Funds (or Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs)

Up to 10% of your investible savings* (in the CPFIS-OA) can be invested in:
  • Gold ETFs

Only monies in excess of $20,000 in your Ordinary Account can be invested.

The computation for investible savings by CPF Board can be complicated as it takes into consideration several factors, eg. amount withdrawn for other investments/education, shortfalls in Retirement/Medisave etc.

Hence, before investing with your CPF funds, it is recommended that you check your investible savings amount via CPF online service using your SingPass: www.cpf.gov.sg. The total amount bought including fees must strictly be within the investible savings amount. If there are any revocation of trades due to insufficient funds, there will be consequences which will be troublesome and can incur losses.

Linking Up Your CPF Investment Account
To trade with your CPF funds, do inform Lyndell on your CPF Investment Account number. Otherwise, a CPF trade will be revoked to a cash trade.

If you do not have a CPF Investment Account yet, you can easily open one with any of the local banks: DBS/UOB/OCBC.

Placing A CPF Order
When placing your order, select "CPF" under payment type. To check whether a stock can be bought with CPF funds, refer to the “Ind” column on the platform. Stocks with the remark "C" can be traded with CPF funds.
