TWO PARTS TO THE SIA RIGHTS ISSUE
1. Rights Issue of Rights Shares
For every 2 Shares, you are offered 3 Rights Shares @ S$3.00 each.
2. Rights Issue of Rights MCBs
For every 100 Shares, you are offered 295 Rights MCBs @ S$1.00 each.
WHERE TO CHECK QUANTITY
There will be an offer letter despatched to you on or around 13 May 2020.
It will take awhile to reach you by post, due to the current Covid-19 situation.
*Note: Lyndell does not have access to your CDP / CPF / SRS so you will need to check the quantity yourself by the following methods.
SIA Shares in CDP
Please log in to your online CDP account.
There will be a notification that shows the quantity of Rights Shares and Rights MCBs you are allotted.
SIA Shares in CPF / SRS
Please check with the bank that holds your CPF Investment Account.
SAMPLE CALCULATION
Say, you hold 1,000 shares of SIA, bought before 6 May 2020.
1. Rights Issue of Rights Shares
You will be offered 1,000 / 2 x 3 = 1,500 Rights Shares.
If you wish to take up the Rights Shares, you will have to fork out 1,500 x $3.00 = $4,500.
2. Rights Issue of Rights MCBs
You will be offered 1,000 / 100 x 295 = 2,950 Rights MCBs
If you wish to take up the Rights MCBS, you will have to fork out 2,950 x $1.00 = $2,950.
TWO IMPORTANT POINTS
*The Rights Shares and Rights MCBs are renounceable
If you do not wish to take up the Rights Shares or Rights MCBs:
You can sell them off in the market from 13-21 May 2020.
The Rights Shares and Rights MCBs are your entitlement and have value!
*The Rights Shares and Rights MCBs are capable of acceptance independently of each other.
If you wish to take up the Rights Shares or Rights MCBs:
You may choose to accept both the Rights Shares and Rights MCBs.
Or, you may accept the Rights Shares and sell off the Rights MCBs or vice versa.
Or, you sell off both the Rights Shares and Rights MCBs.
Overall, it is not necessary to accept both together.
RIGHTS TRADING PERIOD
If you do not wish to take up the Rights Shares or Rights MCBs, you may sell them off in the market.
Do take note that the rights trading period is 13-21 May 2020.
PART I: HOW TO SELL OFF YOUR RIGHTS SHARES
Step 1) Search and add SIA Rights Shares to your Online Trading Platform / App.
Online Trading Platform
Search for "SIA" - Online Trading Platform |
Look for "SIA R" and "SIA R1" and double-check the code - Online Trading Platform |
Step 2) Sell off your Rights Shares
The difference between SIA R and SIA R1:
SIA R - Lot size is 100 shares. ie. the minimum to sell is 100 shares.
SIA R1 - Lot size is 1 share. ie. the minimum to sell is 1 share.
So, if you have 1,500 Rights Shares to sell, you can sell all 1,500 under SIA R.
But, let's say you have 1,529 Rights Shares to sell, then you will sell 1,500 under SIA R and 29 under SIA R1.
*Both orders should be done within the same day so that only 1 time brokerage is charged.
CPF / SRS Rights Shares
If you hold CPF or SRS Rights Shares, please sell under Payment Type: Cash.
Thereafter, please contact Lyndell within the same day to amend it to CPF / SRS.
Online Trading Platform
SIA R - Online Trading Platform |
Sell as per normal, like how you sell your other stocks.
3) Sales Proceeds
After selling, the amount payable to you can be viewed the next market day under Account Mgmt > Outstanding Positions.
The payment will be as per normal, like how payments are made to you when you sell your other stocks through Lim & Tan.
4) What about the Offer Letter?
If you have sold all your Rights Shares, you do not need to worry about accepting the Rights Shares anymore.
If you have sold partial of your Right Shares, then please remember to accept your balance Rights Shares at the ATM.
PART II: HOW TO SELL OFF YOUR RIGHTS MCBS

SIA MCB R - Lot size is 100 shares. ie. the minimum to sell is 100 shares.
SIA MCB R1 - Lot size is 1 share. ie. the minimum to sell is 1 share.
So, if you have 2,900 Rights MCBs to sell, you can sell all 2,900 under SIA MCB R.
But, let's say you have 2,950 Rights MCBs to sell, then you will sell 2,900 under SIA MCB R and 50 under SIA MCB R1. *Both orders should be done within the same day so that only 1 time brokerage is charged.
**Note: As the price for SIA MCB R is very low, please do a rough calculation before placing your sell order for SIA MCB R. Bear in mind that you will have to account for fees & charges. If the fees & charges are more than the amount that you get for selling SIA MCB R, it is not worthwhile to sell because you will still need to top up payment for the fees & charges. In such a situation, it is better to let the SIA MCB R lapse.
