The following steps apply to Individual Accounts. If you'd like to open a Joint Account / Corporate Account / Estate Account, please contact Lyndell.
If you are completely new to stocks, you will need to open a CDP Securities Account and a Lim & Tan trading account.
If you already have a CDP Securities Account, skip Step 1 and go to Step 2.
Step 1: Opening a CDP Securities Account
A CDP (Central Depository) account is a depository account where your shares are held. A Lim & Tan trading account is used to buy and sell shares. Hence, Lim & Tan does not hold any of your shares when you trade with a cash trading account.
This CDP account can be opened online via the SGX website, click on Individual Account. See the image below.
With the use of SingPass, you will be able to log in via MyInfo and open the account within the same day. (Submission has to be in the time frame detailed on the website).

SGX website
A Lim & Tan trading account will be the avenue where you transact, ie. buy and sell shares. After buying, the shares will be deposited into your CDP Account. When you sell, the shares will be retrieved from your CDP Account. Lim & Tan does not hold any of your shares when you trade with a cash trading account.
This trading account can be opened online on our Lim & Tan website. At the top-right hand corner, click on the link "Open An Account". See image below.
Please have the following items ready:
- CDP Account No. (aka GSA Account No.) It is 12 digits and usually starts with 1681-xxxx-xxxx. You may find this number on your CDP Statement. To check if you already have a CDP Securities Account, please contact CDP at 6535 7511. If you already have a CDP Securities Account, you may request from CDP for your CDP Securities Account number to be sent via SMS to your mobile phone instantly.
- Bank Account No.
- NRIC
- NTUC LinkPoints Card (if you have)
With the use of SingPass, you will be able to log in via MyInfo and complete the process.

If you are referred by a friend/relative:
You will be asked if you have been referred by any client. If yes, please fill up your friend/relative's trading account number or full name. Sample image below:

What other supporting documents do I have to provide?
For Singaporean, PRs and Malaysian, please provide a copy of your NRIC (Front and Back).
For Foreigners, please provide a copy of your passport (page with photo and your signature) with at least 6 months validity and a copy of your work permit (if you are working in Singapore).
Please note that you are required to sign on the copy of your document(s) for submission.
For mailing address which differs from your residential address, please note that you will also need to provide supporting documents which reflects your mailing address issued within the last 3 months such as:
- Statement from any Financial Institutions
- Statement from Government Bodies (e.g. CPF, IRAS)
Step 3: You're Done!
Submit the form. Please take note that sometimes it may take a couple of minutes for the submission to go through. Once completed, a notification saying that "Your application has been submitted" will pop up and you will be able to download the PDF version of your application.
Drop Lyndell a message with your name (on NRIC) about your account opening. The process will take about 2 weeks.
Soon, you will receive via email:
- Welcome Letter that contains your Login ID
- Your Electronic Password
